This training introduces the basics concepts of Measurement & Verification (M&V) and the International Performance Measurement & Verification Protocol (IPMVP). It highlights the purposes of M&V, the range of possible M&V methods, and the need for specific M&V design for each project. The program is designed for management, financial, regulatory and technical professionals who want a basic understanding of the role of M&V in supporting energy efficiency retrofits and investments.

Measurement and verification is the activity that evaluates the actual energy and economic benefits of efficiency interventions implemented. It is essential in Energy Performance Contracts (EPCs) stipulated with ESCOs, as it minimizes transaction costs associated with insufficient knowledge of technical, managerial, and behavioral aspects. It also proves to be a very useful tool in energy management.

The course introduces performance measurement and verification and the international IPMVP® protocol developed over twenty years and recognized as an international benchmark. Through application examples, the course illustrates the approaches and options for addressing various operational situations, the functioning of M&V, and the measurement and verification plan.
